U.S. Department of Justice Freezes Over $3.8 Million in Cryptocurrency Assets

On June 4, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that during a joint anti-fraud operation codenamed 'Disruption Week', private sector participants froze over $3.8 million in cryptocurrency assets related to fraud. Participating organizations included Coinbase, Meta, Google, Microsoft, SpaceX, and TRM Labs. The operation also led to the arrest of seven fraudsters by Thai police and the identification of multiple fraudulent platforms for investigation by U.S. authorities. According to data from the FBI, reported losses from cryptocurrency investment fraud are projected to increase by 24% year-on-year in 2025, exceeding $7.2 billion.
