Ethereum Client Geth Releases v1.12.1 in Part Preparation for Cancun Hard Fork

The Go-Ethereum team has released version 1.12.1 of the Ethereum client. Go Ethereum recommends all users to upgrade to this version and claims it may be their biggest maintenance version ever.

Although Geth v1.12.1 is not yet ready for Cancun, this version includes basic type definitions and state transition logic for EIP-4844 "Shard Blob transactions," as well as a new memory pool blobpool implementation for EIP-4844 transactions. The blobpool has not yet been used by the p2p network and is still being tested on the Cancun development network. Additionally, Geth now supports the Rinkeby test network (#27406).
