Coinbase to open new office in San Francisco after abandoning headquarters model

Coinbase has signed an office lease agreement with the Mission Rock development project in San Francisco. This marks the return of the cryptocurrency exchange to the city after abandoning its headquarters model about three years ago. The move is based on Coinbase's acquisition of a 150,000 square foot space at 1090 Dr. Maya Angelou Lane, which occupies more than half of Building B developed by Tishman Speyer and the San Francisco Giants in the waterfront area.

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie posted on X on Thursday afternoon, welcoming Coinbase and stating that San Francisco is "a place for construction and development." According to Mayor Lurie citing a report from the San Francisco Chronicle, the space will become Coinbase's largest single office.
