MIIX Capital: How can we better understand Meme Coin?

Want to learn more about Meme Coin details? #DOGE #SHIB #PEPE #WIF #FLOKI #BONK? Check out the insights from Venture Partner Mark at MIIX Capital with fellow friends.

-How do people view investment in Meme coins compared to value coins?

Degens invest into memecoins without any research or supporting fundamentals. Memecoins are more of an entertainment for them and speculation on the price of the token.

Meme coins are largely driven by community participation. Lacking fundamental economic or business applications, their value is typically shaped by social media and online sentiment.

-What potential does a successful Meme coin need?

The meme coin phenomenon has its roots deeply intertwined with internet culture, drawing upon popular memes for branding and community building.

Also, support from influencers which have a large community adds to the potential success of the memcoin. As we know, Elon Musk back in 2022 supported the DOGE coin on Twitter and traditional media and the value of token increased greatly.

-Will the volatility of Meme coins have a negative impact on the overall stability of investment portfolios?

Overall, yes, as this kind of digital asset is very volatile and has no intrinsic value. Most memecoin investors are from retail and they do not set their profit targets. That means they can end up with negative returns (especially if their investment portfolio exposure to memecoins is fairly large) on their investment as memecoins are highly volatile.

-Why do Meme coins mostly choose the Solana chain or Base Chain?

The Solana blockchain’s appeal to meme coins lies in its scalability and efficiency. With the ability to process numerous transactions per second at a fraction of the cost compared to Ethereum.

-Is the fundraising frenzy for Meme on Solana equivalent to Ethereum’s ICO era?

To some extent, yes, but it is an evolution and Solana chain can be more attractive than Ethereum due to lower transaction fees and faster transaction speed.

Solana uses memcoins to drive hype and activity in their ecosystem, clever marketing, especially with Solana phone which had BONK tokens in there.

-What are the early discovery methods for projects like BOME?

  • Following list of KOLs on Twitter, memecoin hunters on Solana, etc.
  • Engaging with online crypto communities. Monitoring social media trends.
  • Exploring high-potential presales.
  • Utilizing crypto market aggregators — coinmarketcap, coingecko, coincodex.
  • Etherscan,Dune analytics — to analyze memcoins metrics.
  • Look at low market cap meme coins.

-Will the Meme coin sector remain hot throughout this bull market? What is its significance?

Meme coin value is heavily influenced by social media buzz and influencer endorsements rather than fundamental financial metrics. Community activities (Online platforms like Twitter and Reddit) remain hotbeds for meme coin promotion and discussion.

The Meme market is largely driven by retail investors, with institutional investors (apart from degen VCs, high risk speculative trading) typically avoiding meme coins due to their unpredictable nature.

While many meme coins start with little intrinsic value, the development of practical utility can significantly impact their longevity. Projects that expand their functionality beyond simple transactions to offer services like gaming or NFTs may see greater sustainability.

  • Uniswap founder: Founders and VCs need to stop valuing startups and pre-coin crypto projects at more than $1 billion

Uniswap founder Hayden Adams posted on social media that cryptocurrency founders and venture capitalists need to stop valuing projects at over $1 billion in the early stages of development and before tokens have been released, until they are truly worth that valuation. Building something worth 7-9 figures is an incredible achievement, and not every project needs to be a unicorn at launch. Additionally, Hayden Adams said, perhaps it's naive, but I think raising funds as a founder at a fair valuation (real talent wants upside) and investing at a fair valuation as a VC (LPs want upside) can make more money. It's just harder to do it that way.
