On April 9, the UAE urged for 'sustained measures' to address various threats posed by Iran, including its nuclear capabilities and ballistic missiles. The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a release that the UAE is 'closely monitoring' the two-week ceasefire agreement announced by Trump on Tuesday and is 'seeking further clarification of the terms of the agreement to ensure Iran is fully committed to immediately halting all hostile actions in the region and completely and unconditionally reopening the Strait of Hormuz.' The ministry added that over the past 40 days, Iran has launched attacks on infrastructure, energy facilities, and civilian sites across the Persian Gulf, necessitating a 'firm stance' to respond, and noted that Iran still possesses significant military strength and has proxies in the region, which are issues that must be addressed.
