On April 9, Meta Platforms Inc. unveiled its latest artificial intelligence (AI) model on Wednesday — the first model launched since CEO Mark Zuckerberg restructured the company's AI division with a multi-billion dollar investment to keep pace with competitors. This highly anticipated model, named Muse Spark, was developed by the Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), a new team led by Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang, which brings together high-paid AI researchers. Muse Spark will support Meta's AI chatbot and marks a departure from the company's previous open-source strategy, adopting a closed-source model where its design and code will not be made public.
