Iranian Speaker: Iran Prepared to Defend Its Rights if U.S. Uses Negotiations for Showmanship

On April 11, Iranian Islamic Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated in Islamabad, Pakistan, that Iran is sincere about negotiating with the United States but does not trust the U.S. side, as previous negotiations have "always ended in failure and betrayal." He emphasized that if the U.S. attempts to use the negotiations for showmanship, Iran is prepared to defend its rights. Qalibaf highlighted that in the upcoming negotiations, if the U.S. is genuinely willing to reach an agreement and respect the rights of the Iranian people, "they will also see our willingness to reach an agreement." However, if the U.S. tries to stage a "fruitless show or deceptive act" during the negotiations, Iran is ready to defend its rights.
