Beijing to Formulate Regulations for AI Industry Development, First Review of Draft Scheduled for November

On May 28, according to the Beijing News, the 24th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress heard and reviewed a report from the Committee on Ethnic Affairs, Religion, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs regarding the results of the deliberation of proposals submitted by representatives at the 4th meeting of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress. A total of four proposals were submitted for review by the Committee, including a proposal on formulating the "Beijing Regulations on AI Industry Development" by 13 representatives led by Huang Leping, a proposal on enacting legislation to promote the development of the AI industry in Beijing by 15 representatives led by Yang Qiang, a proposal on accelerating legislation for AI industry development and strengthening talent development by 12 representatives led by Tao Qinghua, and a proposal on accelerating legislation for the embodied intelligent robotics industry by 17 representatives led by Zhang Xiyong. According to the legislative work schedule, the Standing Committee plans to conduct the first review of the draft regulations in November this year, and prior to that, the Standing Committee's director meeting will also study the "Project Justification Report for the Beijing Regulations on AI Industry Development."
