On July 22nd, HKU Business School held the first Artificial Intelligence and Industrial Development Forum, as well as Artificial Intelligence Technology Exhibition in Futian, Shenzhen. The forum invited experts from academia and industry to explore the prospects and opportunities of the deep integration of AI technology and industry. This forum focused on topics such as "AI and Digital Economy", "Large Language Models", "Generative AI", and "AI and Industrial Symbiosis". The first AI Technology Exhibition showed the latest achievements and unlimited future of AI in the Greater Bay Area, with exhibitors covering cutting-edge fields of AI.

Dean of HKU Business School and Chair of Economics, Prof. Hongbin Cai, stated that the high-quality faculty and research of HKU Business School will collaborate closely with AI industry development in the Greater Bay Area. By combining research projects at the Shenzhen Campus's AI Research Institute with industry-academia-research cooperation and the collaboration in entrepreneurship and innovation aspects of HKU YUAN Valley, jointly promote the development of AI industry and help the Greater Bay Area keep the leading role in AI industry development in China.

Keynote Speeches included "AI Contributes to High-Quality Development of the Digital Economy" by Jing Xiao, Chief Scientist of Ping An Group and Chair of the Shenzhen AI Industry Association, "Principles, Progress, and Prospects of Large Language Models" by Chenglin Wu, Founder&CEO of DeepWisdom, and "Generative AI: The Road to Innovation and Exploration" by Hailiang Chen, Director of the AI Research Institute at HKU Business School.
Under the host of Prof. Hailiang Chen, Prof. Dingding Chen, Dean of Intellisia Institute, Mr. Huawei Kong, iPollo Chief Scientist, and Mr. Chun Liu, CTO of Guangdong Industry Development and Ecology Department of Huawei, Panel Discussion was held on "AI and Industrial Symbiosis: Challenges and Opportunities of Deep Integration" to promote the "industry-academia-research" cooperation in the field of AI in the Greater Bay Area.

Marvin Kong, iPollo Chief Scientist, said that although there are huge commercial opportunities for AI, they can also be fleeting. Therefore, a good entrepreneurial idea cannot be separated from mature commercial operations. For entrepreneurs, whether it is the "War of Hundred Models" in China or the return of founders of major companies in the United States, it indicates that the smartest people in the world are all joining the ranks.

During the forum, the guests visited the first "AI Technology Product Exhibition" held by HKU Business School Shenzhen Campus. The exhibition showed AI-related products and services from AI companies in the Greater Bay Area and the Shenzhen AI Industry Association, including Huawei, Nano Labs, iPollo, SoundAI, etc.

This forum is one of "2023 HKU Frontiers Bay Area Innovation" series of academic forums organized by HKU Business School Shenzhen Research Institute, which aims to build a platform for in-depth exchanges among government, industry, academia, and research. Shenzhen Research Institute has established an AI Research Institute this year, which is dedicated to promoting the transformation of AI academic achievements, the integrated development of technology and industry, helping AI technology truly land in enterprises, and forming replicable successful experiences, combined with AI technology and the industrial needs of the Greater Bay Area.
