Musk’s refusal to pay rent adds to Goldman bad property loans

Goldman Sachs has seen a surge in commercial real estate loan delinquencies, partly due to Elon Musk's refusal to pay rent for Twitter's office space. The value of loans behind on repayments rose 612% in Q1 2021 to $840m, according to reports filed by Goldman’s licensed banking entity with the US Federal Deposit Insurance Commission. This was much higher than the rise in delinquent CRE loans reported by the entire US banking industry, which were up 30% over the same period to just over $12bn. Commercial real estate lending accounts for less than 20% of Goldman's overall loan book and will not have a material impact on its earnings.

Elon Musk Visits China to Strengthen Tesla's Ties with World's Largest Auto Market, While CATL Offers Lithium Carbonate Deal to EV Makers

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is in China to strengthen the company's ties with the world's largest auto market. Despite controversy over the "996" work schedule, Musk remains committed to China, which accounted for over half of Tesla's Q1 deliveries. Musk has refrained from tweeting since his arrival in China to avoid violating Chinese laws. On his first night in China, he dined with Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited, Tesla's top battery supplier in China. However, it remains to be seen how Tesla's partnership with CATL, which has launched an aggressive price-cut scheme for lithium carbonate, will develop in the future as Tesla ventures into battery manufacturing and lithium mining to enhance its supply chain control.

The Urgent Need for AI Regulation: Elon Musk's Call for Responsible and Ethical Development of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a powerful tool driving innovation and transformation in today's technological landscape. However, there are concerns about the potential negative consequences of unchecked AI development on society, the economy, and the world at large. Elon Musk, a well-known entrepreneur and visionary, advocates for AI regulation to prevent adverse effects, which is a concern shared by many experts in the field. Musk's involvement in AI is significant, as he is invested in the responsible and ethical development of AI through his companies OpenAI and Neuralink. The spread of AI-generated misinformation through social media platforms and other channels poses a significant threat to the integrity of information ecosystems, and Musk has proposed solutions such as implementing a universal basic income and education reform to mitigate the impact of AI-driven job automation on society. However, regulatory measures must be implemented to address concerns about the weaponization of AI, ethical issues surrounding AI decision-making, and the possibility of an AI "arms race" among nations. Ultimately, careful consideration and proactive solutions are necessary to reap the benefits of AI while minimizing its potential risks.

Dogecoin Price Declines as Elon Musk Names it his Favorite Cryptocurrency, While Mooky Investment Offers Opportunity for Environmental Sustainability

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has recently shown a preference for Dogecoin, but the cryptocurrency's price has been on a gradual decline due to market volatility. The price of DOGE has dropped by 27% since reaching a 30-day high of $0.095, and its market value has decreased below $10 billion. However, big investors are buying up DOGE at its current low price, seeing it as a viable long-term investment opportunity. Meanwhile, investing in Mooky, a sustainable token that supports tree-planting initiatives, offers investors a chance to match their financial objectives with their environmental principles. Mooky has no transaction fees, and its governance is decentralized, giving investors a voice in the token's development and management. Most importantly, investing in Mooky allows individuals to have a direct and concrete impact on the environment.

Musk's contributions to OpenAI may total $57.4 million

Elon Musk has reduced his claim of donating $100 million to OpenAI to around $50 million. TechCrunch investigated the funding behind the original OpenAI nonprofit and found that Musk could not have given the nonprofit the $100 million he originally claimed. Tax filings reveal that the total amount donated to OpenAI’s nonprofit from its inception through 2021 was only $133.2 million. The vast majority of those funds arrived before the launch of OpenAI’s for-profit arm in 2019, and the nonprofit itself is now largely defunct. Musk’s contributions to OpenAI likely totaled $57.4 million.
