CME Bitcoin futures open interest reaches $7.76 billion, hitting record high

The open interest of CME Bitcoin futures reached a record high of 7.76 billion US dollars, with a 24-hour increase of 15.61%.

CME Bitcoin futures contract open interest rises to $6.75 billion, a new all-time high

According to Coinglass data on February 18th, the total open position of Bitcoin futures contracts on the entire network is 458,600 BTC (approximately $23.72 billion). Among them, the open position of Bitcoin futures contracts on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has reached 130,710 BTC (approximately $6.75 billion), reaching a historical high and ranking first; the open position of Bitcoin contracts on Binance is 112,950 BTC (approximately $5.84 billion), ranking second.

Bitcoin futures open interest tops $21 billion, highest since November 2021

According to CoinGlass data, the nominal value of outstanding contracts, which is the dollar value locked in open or active Bitcoin (BTC) futures contracts, has risen to a 26-month high. As of writing this article, the outstanding contracts for perpetual contracts and standard futures exceed $21 billion, with the Bitcoin spot market trading at $49,570. The number of outstanding contracts this year has increased by 22%, approaching the record of $24 billion set in mid-November 2021 when the Bitcoin trading price exceeded $65,000.

Glassnode: CME Bitcoin futures open interest accounts for 36% of total futures open interest

Glassnode has stated on social media that the open interest of Bitcoin futures contracts on the CME exchange now accounts for 36% of all open futures contracts.

CME Bitcoin futures open interest hits record high

According to Coinglass platform data, the current open interest of Bitcoin futures contracts has reached $20.24 billion. Among them, CME has the largest proportion, reaching $6.19 billion, a historic high; Binance ranks second, with $4.522 billion; Bybit ranks third, with $3.506 billion.

Bitcoin open interest reaches $18.252 billion

According to Coinglass platform data, the current open interest of Bitcoin futures contracts has reached $18.252 billion. Among them, CME has the largest proportion, at $4.891 billion; Binance ranks second, at $4.231 billion; Bybit ranks third, at $3.222 billion.

The annualized BTC futures premium on Deribit has exceeded 12%

Lin Chen, the head of Deribit's Asia-Pacific business, wrote on X platform that the BTC annualized futures premium has exceeded 12%, and the futures price at the end of 2024 is $47,882.5.

The open position of BTC contracts across the entire network is $18.15 billion

According to Coinglass data, the total open position of Bitcoin futures contracts on the entire network is 426,340 BTC (approximately $18.15 billion). CME's Bitcoin futures contract has the largest open position of 114,770 BTC (approximately $4.88 billion), ranking first. Binance's Bitcoin futures contract has an open position of 98,650 BTC (approximately $4.2 billion), ranking second.

Bitcoin futures open interest market share dropped to 38%, the lowest level in the past two years

According to Coinalyze statistics, the market share of open positions in Bitcoin futures has dropped from 50% to 38% in the past two months, the lowest level in nearly two years. Coinalyze said: "It seems that 'all' funds are now entering altcoins, which explains why BTC's dominance in open positions in futures has declined." Coinglass data shows that the total open position of Bitcoin futures contracts on the network is 431,750 BTC, equivalent to US$18.01 billion, with a 24-hour decrease of 6.40%. Among them, the open position of CME Bitcoin contracts is 109,220 BTC, equivalent to US$4.55 billion, with a 24-hour decrease of 10.45%. The open position of Binance Bitcoin contracts is 97,960 BTC, equivalent to US$4.09 billion, with a 24-hour decrease of 2.52%.
