Public Goods Network

PGN

ALL From Public Goods Network

Public Goods Network announced that it is tentatively scheduled to officially end operations in June this year

Public Goods Network (PGN), a Layer2 network based on OP Stack, announced on social media that after a comprehensive evaluation, it has decided to gradually end PGN in the next six months, with a tentative final time set for June 2024. PGN stated that if other teams or individuals wish to provide support or take over, they are willing to discuss. PGN aims to provide funding for global public goods, generate revenue through network sorter fees, and return these funds to the entire public product. PGN launched on the mainnet in July 2023, and in August 2023, Gitcoin Grants 18 launched on Public Goods Network.

Network Common Goods

In this essay, I will explore the concept of Network Common Goods, an approach designed to overcome the limitations inherent in Public Goods as applied to Blockchain Networks, offering a more comprehensive framework for understanding and supporting blockchain ecosystems. This idea, which combines the open accessibility characteristic of traditional Public Goods with the expansive, network-driven value of Network Goods, represents a shift in how we think about funding and supporting the goals of crypto networks, protocols and organizations.
