Do you remember the 2008 phenomenon "Happy Farm"? Shortly after, in 2009, Tencent launched QQ Farm, which quickly took the internet by storm. Back then, many rushed to log into their QQ space to "steal vegetables" from others. Some even set alarms to wake up in the middle of the night just for this! These long-forgotten memories are now making a comeback with the new "AO Happy Farm" game in the AO ecosystem.
Game Overview
The AO Happy Farm game was developed by the Seagull team within the PermaDAO development guild. It operates on the AO network, with the decentralized gateway ar.io providing frontend access.
The gameplay is simple and resembles the classic QQ Farm. Players can plant seeds, water them, harvest crops, and even “steal” other players’ crops. Once the crops are sold, players earn HTC tokens, which can be used to buy new seeds and start another planting cycle.
All actions in the game come with point rewards, symbolizing player activity. In the future, points can be exchanged for a proportional amount of HTC tokens.

Game Rules
- Crop Growth Cycle: The seed growth cycle lasts 24 hours, progressing through four stages: seed → sprout → bloom → fruit, with each stage lasting 6 hours.
- Planting & Crop Limits: Only one tree can be planted per plot, and each tree can bear up to 10 fruits.
- Watering for Better Yield: Players can water their plants once during each growth stage to increase the yield.
- Stealing Mechanism: Players can steal mature crops from others, with the amount stolen being random.
- Anti-Stealing Mechanism: Players can receive a free dog to guard their farm, reducing the success rate of crop theft to a random probability.
- Points and Token Rewards: Each action, such as watering or selling crops, earns points. For example, watering once earns 100 points, and selling crops earns both HTC tokens and 100 points.
Points and Token System Details
- Planting: 100 points reward.
- Watering: 100 points reward.
- Harvesting: 100 points reward.
- Buying seeds: Costs 10 HTC tokens, rewards 100 points.
- Selling crops: 3 HTC tokens per crop, 100 points reward.
💡 HTC tokens are currently only for in-game use. None of this constitutes financial advice.
How to Play
Getting Started
After connecting to the game using the ArConnect wallet, players can set up their farm’s name or choose to add their X account (optional).
Additionally, they can set a slogan on the farm’s bulletin board by clicking “Notice,” entering their message, and confirming it.
Planting and Watering
After entering the game, the first task is to plant seeds. Hovering the mouse over an "empty plot" will display a shovel icon, which can be clicked to plant seeds.
Once the seeds are planted, moving the mouse over the soil will display a watering can icon, allowing players to water the seeds. Players can also water other players' crops and earn points for doing so.
After planting, players must wait. The seeds will progress through the stages of "sprouting → blooming → fruiting" over 24 hours, with each stage lasting six hours. While waiting for crops to mature, players can also "steal" from other farms.
Harvesting Mature Crops
When crops are fully grown, they will turn red, and the mouse will display a "hand" icon, indicating that the crops are ready to be harvested.
Stealing Crops
Players can visit other farms from the "Recommend" leaderboard and check if there are mature crops to steal. A single tree can yield up to 10 fruits for the player who steals from it.
Players can also "Follow" active players, making it easier to revisit their farms for potential crop theft.
Followed players will appear on the "Followers" list.
Preventing Crop Theft
Since you can steal from others, they can also steal from you! AO Happy Farm offers an "anti-theft" feature. Players can click the dog icon in the upper right corner to receive a free dog to guard their farm.
With the dog on guard, the success rate for other players attempting to steal crops is no longer 100%, as it becomes a random chance.
Buying Seeds and Selling Crops
By clicking "Shop" and navigating to the "Buy" tab, players can purchase seeds. Each seed costs 10 HTC tokens.
In the "Sell" tab, players can sell crops, earning 3 HTC tokens per fruit.
Random Visit Feature
Players can also click the "GO TO" button to be randomly transported to another player’s farm, much like entering a portal.
New User Benefits and Invite Rewards
New users receive:
- 100 points
- 100 tokens
- 10 seeds
- 10 plots of land
Players can earn additional tokens and points by inviting new users via an invitation link. Each successful invitation grants 100 tokens and 100 points.
Future Plans and Outlook
The Seagull team plans to release several more games in the future. Though independent of AO Happy Farm, these games will use HTC tokens, creating a shared token economy. For instance, the upcoming "Happy Town" game will also integrate HTC tokens, meaning that tokens earned in AO Happy Farm can be used in Happy Town.
This cross-game economic model allows players’ efforts in one game to carry over to others, creating a synergy between games. This not only enhances the fun and engagement of the games but also boosts the overall activity within the game ecosystem. With AO Happy Farm as the central engine, other game modules will be developed, allowing developers to expand quickly based on the shared economy model.
In conclusion, AO Happy Farm lays the foundation for building a vast gaming world. Why not try it out now and start accumulating HTC tokens while having fun, getting ready for the future of this gaming adventure?
